Great news! I had my 5 month post op appointment today at UCLA and they said everything looked great, that my heart is functioning properly and well and that if they didn't know I had had heart surgery 5 months ago, they wouldn't know it by looking at me or listening to my heart. :) I am so thrilled and relieved!! Jason and I drove down there today for an echocardiogram appointment at 8:45am and then the follow-up appointment with my cardiologist and his assistant at 10am. I told them I am still fatigued at times, still have daily heart palpitations and sometimes have trouble sleeping but they said it's all normal considering the severity of the surgery, being on a heart and lung machine for the surgery and where I am in my recovery and that unfortunately, the palpitations may never go away...which is a huge bummer, but I suppose with time I'll grow accustomed to them. All in all, I am doing well, my coloring is great (yay for healthy pink cheeks!) and to keep up the good work. :)
My next appointment will be in September, and from then on, unless I need to be seen sooner, I will be scheduled for a yearly echo and follow-up. I have to say that it's difficult to be completely over the moon with the positive news, as I am still nervous about my recovery and worried something will go wrong, which I shared with my doctor, but he said it was normal to feel that way since I've been through so much and to just keep on pushing forward and focus on the future. I have so much to be thankful for and I want to say "thank you" to everyone for their positive thoughts, prayers and well wishes! Love to you all!
