First and foremost, a huge thank you to my Dad and John for helping us make the trek, and for spending most of their one "free day" here in Indiana helping us clean, unload, shop, and put together some furniture. We are so lucky :)
After 4.5 days of driving over 2,100 miles through 8 states, we finally arrived at our new home on Thursday afternoon! The dog and cat did great, much better than either of us though they would, which is a huge relief.
The drive itself was long but we thoroughly enjoyed all of the beautiful countryside we drove through. Living in California and in the inland empire for the past 2 years, it's easy to forget how truly stunning parts of the US really are.

We are subleasing which, among other things, means we had to accept our place "as is." There are a few things that the management won't fix for us because the damage was caused by the previous tenant and not wear and tear or malfunction. The biggest bummer in that category is a severely cracked window in the dining area. Also, most unfortunately, the previous tenants chose not to clean at all which meant we spent the majority of yesterday cleaning the place from top to bottom. Kudos to my Dad for volunteering to clean the bathrooms...cleaning up someone else's filth is pretty gross. Needless to say, I have a new-found respect for cleaning services. But! It's about 1300 sqft (so 300ft shy of double the size of our apartment) and it has a garage! Our living room is so large we don't know what to do with all of the space....although I have grand plans for our Christmas tree this year. ;)

| Our new home in Indiana! |
The weather is super sticky. Today, it's 94 degrees with 60% humidity and there were thunderstorms earlier in the day, more on the way tonight and tomorrow. The town of Bloomington is so cute! We haven't had too much time to explore as much as we would like yet but we'll get there. Lots of great restaurants (we ate at an amazing Indian food place on Thursday night called Taste of India...mmmm) and we're trying out a new one tonight for an early 6th wedding anniversary celebration. :)
The time difference takes some adjustment for us as well as the pets (Chloe seems ready to rock and roll for some reason at 5am each morning. Yay.). Lots and lots to unpack and the place needs some decoration but it's coming together, bit by bit, box by unpacked box. Stay tuned!

Yay, you made it! We just moved, too, and I can't imagine having to clean the new place as well as your old one! Not fair! Hope you guys have fun settling in. Cuddles for the fur babies, xoxo to you and Jason
I love that you are planning your christmas tree already!! I can't WAIT to see the magic you come up with. :)
