And where in the heck have I been? Well, for starters, I got a temp job this week at the U of R! I've been the administrative assistant for the IT department at Redlands since Monday and it's been going really well. I'm tired (working 8-5 after 9 months of keeping my own schedule has been interesting for me) but I'm slowly getting back in to the swing of things. We're night owls, always have been probably always will be, so an additional challenge for us is getting to bed at a half way decent time in order to get up with the early birds. I don't drink coffee so that whole morning cup 'o Joe thing doesn't happen in my life and it's rough. My eyes are kind of blood shot for the first few hours of the day but by late morning I perk right up. And then...the dreaded mid-day slouch. I tell ya, every day this week I have really REALLY wished I could curl up under my desk for a little shut eye, right around 2-2:30. Since that wouldn't be a popular idea, I nearly have to slap myself around a little bit to get my head back in the game. I finish up the week tomorrow but I most likely will return next week, and possibly for a 3rd week if needed. I'm really glad to have gotten my foot in the door {Thanks, Coco!!} so we'll see where things go from here. I've been added to the U of R temp list and have gotten on pretty good terms with one of the ladies in HR so maybe something temporary will turn in to something permanent. :)
And also, the lovely ladies of Alpha Sigma Pi asked me to be a Patroness last weekend, which I was honored to accept. Basically, for those who were not in a sorority/fraternity in college, a Patroness is a position held by an alumnus of the group, who serves as a kind of mentor but with added responsibilities. Among other things, we enforce the rules set by the school and our own organization, act as mediators (between the girls and the school or between members) as needed, attend certain meetings/events, host various functions, and are members of the Alumni Board. I am so excited to be a part of my organization in this capacity --- it truly is an honor, as you have to be invited to the position by the current active members, and I hope I can be a good role model to them and serve the group to the best of my ability.
AND, in addition to that, I have applied to be a tutor for the Adult Literacy Program at the local library! Our first meeting was this past Monday evening and our first training session will be March 14. Reading and writing has played an integral role in my life (where would I be without a good book?!) and it will be so wonderful to help someone else welcome the written word in to their own life. More to come on that!
I went from doing nada to being really busy, but it's all good, exciting stuff. Stay tuned!

You're so so welcome! I'm glad we had lunch today and that your foot is in the door. When it rains, it pours!
haha yes, and it's so nice to have the positive version of that adage being true in my life. :)
Sounds like things are going well! I'm sure you'll be a great role model and mentor for the sorority girls. And being a tutor for the adult literacy program is a great way to give back to the community. Way to go!
So happy for all of your new exciting ventures! We'll talk this week... hope you and your mom are having a blast!
